Friends and Strangers

[usr 2]

I didn't really enjoy this book. This book follows two women, Elizabeth who's moved from the city to the suburbs with her husband and baby and Sam who is a local college student and her babysitter. They're both pretty selfish, especially Elizabeth. I found her extreme to be  judgmental and it was tiring. I expected some character development but there really was none. The only character I enjoyed was Elizabeth's father in law. This book does deal with the topic of privilege and the corrupt systems that keep people down through his character. I expected more development on that story line but there really was none. Why include such a heavy topic like that if it wasn't going to be properly explored and developed? I'd pass on this book unfortunately.
