Checking In: Marriott Chateau Champlain Montreal

This was my first time traveling to Montreal so it took me a while before I decided on a hotel to stay in. I’m not really all that bougy, so I don’t need the fanciest hotel in the city but I do like well kept, clean and up to date hotels with good service. The Marriott Chateau Champlain did not disappoint.

The hotel was in the perfect location for exploring all parts of the city. The Marriott Chateau Champlain is located right in the downtown area and overlooks the prettiest little park area, Place du Canada. This picture was taken during the winter and it was so pretty. Can you imagine what the view is like during the summer months?

We were in perfect walking distance of the Centre Bell, St. Catherine’s Cathedral, tons of restaurants, shopping and bars, including Crescent Street. The hotel is right above a train stop which made it perfect for getting around to other parts of the city too. It was so simple to head downstairs, hop on the train or metro as they call it there, and head out to brunch that Sunday morning.

The service was really good and everyone in the hotel was super helpful. The hubby and I drove up to Montreal for our trip and one of the other reasons we decided on the Marriott Chateau Champlain was because they had a parking garage, self-park or valet option. We opted for the self-park choice since it was a little cheaper but when we arrived the GPS kept taking us in the wrong direction to pull into the parking garage. I ran inside to the lobby to ask one of the staff at the check in counter and they were so helpful. The entrance was on Rue de la Cathedrale not Rue Peel like the GPS kept telling us.

I used the Marriott app to check in before we arrived so when I ran inside to find out about the parking situation, we were already checked in and I was handed our room keys! Plus it was early, before actual check in time. We arrived around noon and the room was ready for us without any issues. I’ve never experienced a speedier check-in process. Right after parking, we unloaded the car and went straight up to our room. Since we were out exploring most of the time, I can’t vouch for any of the restaurants or cafes in the hotel BUT there is a full blown Starbucks in the hotel and I was absolutely in there every morning. It was nice to get a hot latte every morning before heading out. The room itself was simple nothing fancy but the views of the city were just amazing! Tip – ask for a city view room when booking! You won’t be disappointed.

Macarons were from Boulangerie Première Moisson
Would I stay here again? Absolutely! The Marriott Chateau Champlain is in the perfect location, the train stop, Bonaventure, is right downstairs, there is parking, THERE IS A STARBUCKS IN THE LOBBY, the staff was lovely, and the views were gorgeous. But seriously, there was a Starbucks in the lobby and what more could I possible need? Here is where I ate in Montreal and the makeup I packed for my trip. Have you ever visited Montreal? Where have you stayed or where would you want to stay?
This is not a sponsored post. The hubby and I paid for our own stay here and would spend our own money to stay here again.

  6. Can’t go wrong with a hotel that has gorgeous views. I like Marriott, they’re not too expensive but the rooms are clean, comfortable, and they do their best to make sure their rooms don’t look dated even if some are old. It’s my top choice when traveling with family and kids, and having a location in every city we go to makes finding a place to stay really easy. I’d definitely stay here should we go to Montreal. I love your photos btw, and those macarons, now I want some. 🙂

that’s exactly the kind of hotel I like to stay when visiting a city! I can’t really afford fancy designer rooms or luxury hotels. But I want a minimum of care and it has to be clean and well kept. Usually breakfast is a strong point for me choosing a place to stay!
