The Best Health and Fitness Apps

Last updated on November 3rd, 2020 at 04:30 pm

So how are those resolutions going? By this time of the year, most people have given up on their resolutions. It happens, we’re all human, and no one is perfect, but something I don’t think you should give up on is living a healthy lifestyle. There are so many apps out there to help motivate and keep us on track. Below are some of the best health and fitness apps that help me stay on track. The Best Health and Fitness Apps // The Krystal Diaries 1. My Fitness Pal (iPhone Android) I use this app every day to track what I eat and how much water I drink. I don’t actually use it to count calories since my goal isn’t to lose weight, but I like to stay accountable. Entering every single thing I eat, including that cookie or donut will make me think twice if I’ve already treated myself that day. Before using this app, I figured I was drinking enough water every day, but it turns out I was only drinking 20 ounces. Now I’m up to 42 ounces give or take a day. 2. Fitbit (iPhone Android) I’ve gone from a Fitbit Flex to a Garmin VivoFit back to Fitbit. Now I have a Fitbit Charge 2 and I love the updates to their app since I last had a Fitbit. My steps, workouts and sleeping habits are all logged in the app. One of my health goals has been to walk more during the day. Working a 9-5 and sitting in a cubicle can make it hard to stay active. I like being able to see throughout the day how many steps I’ve done. The app even tracks your heart rate and estimates how fit you are based on resting and active heart rates. 3. Peloton Cycle (iPhone/iPad only) I can’t get enough of Peloton Cycle. Spin classes are my favorite, and I love the flexibility of being able to do them from home. Not having to schlep to a gym everyday relieves a lot of stress for me. I can squeeze in on of their on-demand classes whenever I want or do a live class right from the comfort of my living room. Yes, you have to have an indoor bike to use this app, but it’s so worth it. Recently, Peloton added other workouts to their app like toning, stretching, warm-ups, yoga and so much more. I’ve shared my love of Peloton Cycle before here. 4. Fooducate (iPhone Android) The Food Finder option on this app lets you scan barcodes of any food product and rates it on a scale of A – D and tells you why the product got the rating it did. If a food product has questionable ingredients the app lets you know! The app even shows you better alternatives. I use the free version, but they have some paid options that get even more in depth. 5. Yoga Studio (iPhone Android) Yoga is not my favorite workout. It’s actually probably one of my least favorites, but I try to do a little bit of yoga once a week to balance the spin and toning workouts I normally do. I like this app because they have a wide range of options including beginner options. I like to work on my flexibility and there are options for that too. These are my favorite go-to apps that I use the most often. With these health and fitness apps, it’s pretty easy to stay on track. None of us are perfect, but every single one of these apps makes it easier to stay mindful and motivated about our health and squeeze in a few minutes of activity every day. What are your favorite health and fitness apps?

I have to admit though that Fooducate is super interesting. Does it work on baby food too?

Love My Fitness Pal. I used it for years and years, until I stopped. I needed space on my phone for some other app for my daughter to play before she had her phone, and I hit uninstall. She has a phone now to play her games on, I really need to reinstall that one! I also love the Jawbone app. It works with My Fitness Pal, if you have certain Jawbones.

  18. 2.7.17

I just got a Fitbit 2 days ago so I’ve been getting to know the app and I am loving it so far! I will have to check out My Fitness Pal too!

I love my Fitbit so much! I use a program similar to My Fitness Pal called “Lose It.” There’s a free version, but I went ahead and upgraded to Premium on Black Friday because the sale was too good. Now ask me if I’ve been good about tracking my food recently…. oops.

  50. 2.10.17

I’ve only used the My Fitness Pal app before, but I’ll have to check out the other apps as well. What I like about the My Fitness Pal is not only I can keep track of calories and steps, but I can also keep track of my sugar and carbs intake.

Great post. I love my fitness pal, I just ordered a Fibit flex 2 my job has a healthy rewards program It is my first Fitbit, so I will see how I like it. My job also gives us points for walking/running for steps and activities to cash in for money or items in their store. I also have an apple watch and I love it too.

It’s hard to find fitness apps that work and are trusted. I plan to get back active after I recover from having my baby and will keep these in mind!

Wow, awesome recommendations to apps on health and fitness. I will try some of them, specially because fitness is top on my goals this year!
