I can’t believe my trip to Montreal was already two months ago! I’m finally getting around to sharing my trip update. Better late than never right? The best part of any trip for me is always the food. I love trying new to me foods and restaurants. Some of the places the hubby and I ate at were recommendations and some we just randomly found passing by.
Burger Bar
This restaurant was my favorite. It was so good, the hubby and I went here for dinner twice. Their poutine and burgers were so good.
A good ole burger with a side of poutine
Always end dinner with dessert, ALWAYS!
L’Gros Luxe Mile End
L’Gros Luxe was like a little island oasis in the middle of a winter wonderland! The hubby and I sat here and enjoyed our brunch for hours and the waiters were so nice. A place that doesn’t rush you when eating is always enjoyable.
The hubby had to have the fried chicken and french toast!
There are multiple locations throughout Montreal and we had brunch at the Mile End location. I highly recommend their Benedict poutine – breakfast potatoes, cheese, hollandaise sauce and a fried egg can’t be beaten.
The mimosas are pretty perfect too.
La Baraque du Vieux St-Vincent
This is a cute little hole in the wall type place in Old Montreal. The hubby and I stopped here for lunch after a morning of sightseeing and shopping.
They had a pretty big menu selection including different pizzas but the hubby and I had poutine of course. When in Rome, right?
Delices Erable et Cie
If you love maple then this cute little shop in Old Montreal is absolutely a place you should stop at for a little treat. Everything Delices Erable & Cie has to offer is infused with Canadian maple syrup.
I recommend the maple gelato or one of the maple butter spreads. Their spreads and syrups make really cute souvenir gifts too!
We totally acted like tourists and had poutine at least once every day in Montreal but it was just so good! Our loaded fries have nothing on Canadian poutine. Writing this post is really making me crave poutine now!
Montreal was such a great city to explore and stop in places to eat. We didn’t need to make reservations for any restaurant except L’Gros Lux.
I’ll be recapping more of my Montreal trip soon and sharing where we went sightseeing.

I must live under a rock because I’ve never heard of poutine before this post. I gotta get out more! Montreal looks like it knows how to make burgers too. I love that there’s an “Old Montreal” to explore. Putting it on my travel bucket list!
You’re not the only one under a rock. I didn’t know what poutine was until after the trip was booked.

I didn’t try any bagels there but I will next time!
This is great! I go to Montreal frequently and normally avoid Crescent Street like the plague, but I’ll try that burger bar!
Crescent street wasn’t too crowded when I was there but it could have been the time of year.
I’ve never been…but if I do, these places will be on my lunch and dinner list!!!
I’ve been DYING to go back to Montreal. Now I know where to eat when I do get back there!!
Wow! Such a huge variety of food and everything looks so delicious. I will bookmark this for my next trip to Montreal.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing the different places where you can eat in Montreal! I’ve never been there before and what I love about traveling is the food that you also get to experience. Thanks for this guide!
I love Canada – I used to travel there quite often for business before I had children and miss going all over ! my sister in law is Canadian and visits all the time – I need to go with her sometime soon!
I have a girlfriend who travels to Montreal regularly, I’ll have to have her check these places out.
I am starving now after looking at all your delicious pictures! Can’t wait to visit Montreal myself!
We were there last weekend. We loved the Burger Bar too. 🙂
I love putine! I was told that Canada was the place to have it…can’t wait to visit Montreal!
It looks like y’all ate at some pretty great places. I think the Burger Bar would be my favorite.. Burgers are so classic, and I love trying local burger places like that.
When I get the chance to go away I try to get to try different food. My hubby is a fussy eater, so its hard trying to find the perfect place!! I look the look of the Burger Bar, this would be down my street!! Great Post!!
My friend married a Canadian and has bragged about the poutine and now I want to try it, too. I cannot wait to explore Montreal someday!
Oh gosh Canadian Poutine is sooo good. I can’t find anything comparable in America. All this food looks so good, food is definitely the highlights of most of my trips!
Ok, you have officially made me incredibly hungry! I am in love with those fries, the burgers…everything looks amazing!
Everything looks so yummy! I am fascinated with poutine and want to try it. We do have fries with cheese and gravy here that I love, but Canada’s version just looks better.
I’ve heard Montreal has such a great food scene. I was there as a kid and remember a restaurant that let you make your own garlic bread and thinking it was the coolest thing.
One of these days I need to visit Montreal and try the famous poutine. I’ve so curious about this unique food item and all the other offerings.
Hopefully you can visit Montreal soon!
I have never been to Montreal, but the food is always the most interesting thing to try in any town! This looks great!
I’ve never been to Montreal but knowing about the local cuisine is important when traveling. All of these places to eat look delicious.
That looks so yummy. We have a Canada inspired restaurant and my hubby loves the poutine, I bet the real deal is even better
Yum, now I’m hungry! I’d love to have a day of strolling and visiting favorite restaurants with my husband!
Okay, I am heading up to Montreal now. I want some of this tasty food for myself. This all looks so tasty, and I am so hungry now!
I’m originally from Montreal so I had to read your post! I’m sad I didn’t see Mechant Boeuf on the list. I haven’t been back there in years but my gosh it is so so so good.
I’ll have to try there on my next visit…there will be a next visit eventually!
It’s in the old port and they make the most incredible beer roasted chicken.
